Howdy-Do All My Toys!?.

Couldn’t be more delicate than these little insects. Working so hard to do a dance, and woo their jury! Like they’ve accomplished anything, beyond upsetting everyone around them.

Springy, also known as Springy the Spring, is a former major antagonist of the web-series, Inanimate Insanity, Serving as the former secondary antagonist in Inanimate Insanity Invitational. He is the mascot of Springtastic!, and a leader of The Unvitational Committee. He is voiced by Zuwie Lefou.

Appearance[]

Springy is a grey spring with cartoony, googly eyes, one bigger than the other, and wearing red mittens. They appear to be taller than most of the contestants as well.

In A Jury of Your Fears, they are more decrepit. Their body is taller and bent out of shape, along with having a duller color, a lazy eye and various scratches and marks on his body and gloves.

In You Can't Do This Forever, Springy grabs the toy version of Bot and sacrifices himself in the volcano. He is later recovered and is back to his normal self.

Personality[]

At first, Springy presents himself as an overall silly, friendly, and laid-back individual, but over time he reveals himself to be stubborn and manipulative. This is demonstrated when he attempted to buy Bot's likeness to use them as a mascot or when he tried to use MePhone4's obsessiveness towards them to his advantage, by attempting to make him sign a contract to sell all the contestants as toys and make them all part of a 'Collection.' He is also seen to be vengeful of Bot.

Abilities[]

  • Enhanced jump: Being a spring, they are capable of jumping extremely high distances.
  • Manipulation: Barely even an ability. Being the mascot of a popular brand, they are able to use their likeness to an advantage over people. (ex: Manipulating MePhone4 into almost signing a contract that would sell away his contestants.)
  • Reality bending: As revealed at the Texas object meetup, Springy can slightly bend reality causing the glitched effect as seen in "Spring on the Breakfast!"
  • Glitching: Whenever Springy is too excited, scared or enraged, they glitch constantly. The reason why could potentially be that he was created by MePhone4.
  • Extendable Arms: Springy can extend and retract his arms. This is seen when he punches Bot in "A Jury of Your Fears".

Coverage[]

Appearances[]

  • Inanimate Insanity Invitational
    • "Spring on the Breakfast!" (debut)
    • "Blue Buried" (image)
    • "The Show Must Go On" (doesn't speak)
    • A Jury of Your Fears
    • You Can't Do This Forever

Springy made his debut in "Spring on the Breakfast!" and he was the main villain of the episode. At the end of the episode he was eaten alive by The Floor. Later, in "The Show Must Go On", it turned out that Walkie-Talkie was working with Springy, at the end of the episode his hand appeared from under the ground, and Walkie-Talkie greeted him, saying that he was just in time. After that, in "A Jury of Your Fears" he was the main villian with Walkie-Talkie and being the leader of The Unvitational Committee. In You Can't Do This Forever, he stills being part of the The Unvitational Committee and voting Mephone4 to melt. Also, he teach a Bot Spring-Toy. When Mephone is finally going to be melted in the Volcano, he reconsiders and realizes that his actions were wrong, so he goes to save Mephone and ends up sacrificing himself for him. Mephone revives Springy and he returns to his original form, then accepts Bot that they can be whoever they want, and ends MePhone4's debt with Springtastic, then ends up leaving with Spring-Bot and disappears.

Trivia[]

  • Springy appears to be constantly glitching throughout the episode.
  • Springy seems to be aware of being one of MePhone4's only good memories, allowing him to manipulate him into signing the contract.
    • Springy always seems to be pushy about his past.
  • Springy's knowledge about the characters' past, including old contestants, could add into the popular theory that he's in some way associated with Steve Cobs.
  • Springy uses they/he pronouns, as confirmed by Justin on his Tumblr.
  • Springy does have extendable and retractable arms, to better contrast Bot's extendable legs. It's clearly possible that even having Bot's capabilities, that would likely mean Walkie-Talkie upgraded him prior to either in his debut, or before the finale day, even though he appears to get weakened from getting eaten and swallowed, he still is capable of having his abilities, including arm extension.
  • Springy might be a reference to Clippy, as they look like metal and they also have googly eyes, including the inspiration of the same name.
    • Springy may also be a reference to Springy the Springfield Spring, a fictional Olympic mascot from The Simpsons, as not only do they have a similar design (being a metallic spring with googly eyes and arms), the two also have the same name, and function as mascots.
    • Springy is the only mascot character in Inanimate Insanity Invitational.
    • Springy seems to be animated using smear frames.
