Synopsis[]
Can you solve the mystery? The contestants all try to uncover what happened to the fallen fruit. But will their investigation prove fruitful?
Plot[]
Cold Open[]
The episode starts off with the seven Indefinite Island inhabitants, alongside Walkie-Talkie, sailing towards Paradise for the rejoin challenge. Bot asks why they had to leave so early, and Walkie says they had to be there at 3:00 sharp. Tea Kettle says that MePhone4 had to have meant PM, but Walkie didn't want to take that risk. Blueberry wonders how he got himself into this, and Lifering told him he had earned it, staying on the island just to rejoin the game. Blueberry tells him he didn't leave because he didn't want to ride on a boat, but had to anyways. Candle approaches him, and the two shortly meditate. The boat reaches Paradise, landing on the shore. Blueberry pushes past Goo, and is the first to walk onto the island. The Floor notices that the group had arrived, and goes to alert MePhone4. Goo wonders why he welcomed them with authority, and Candle tells him he had become the show's co-host. MePhone tells The Floor he had never meant PM, and the two notice a seemingly dead Blueberry on the ground next to them. Lifering checks his arm, and realizes that he isn't breathing.
Challenge[]
All of the contests surround Blueberry's lifeless body. Cabby is shocked that someone would actually commit murder on their little island. Walkie tells everyone that they will not start the rejoin challenge until someone confesses to killing Blueberry. MePhone gets the idea to make the murder into the rejoin challenge: One eliminated contestant would be paired with a currently competing contestant, and the two of them would have to find out who killed Blueberry. After they all guessed who did it, he would revive Blueberry, and whoever got it right would get immunity, and the eliminated contestant would rejoin. Yang asks MePhone what would happen if "you were the murderer. Yin asks Yang if he had something to share with everyone, but Yang said it would just be a problem. MePhone adds that you can only win if you aren't a murderer.
Suddenly, Clover appears, telling MePhone that it was a good solution. He wonders when she got there, and she tells him she was taking a break from her latest project, and wanted the funny hat that detectives wear. Walkie tells her she can't join the challenge because she didn't stay on Indefinite Island, but Clover managed to convince MePhone to let her in due to her luck. Test Tube asks MePhone if she can take herself out of the challenge to work with Bot, and is allowed to do so. MePhone tells The Floor to make the other teams, not caring about the rest. The Floor puts Tea Kettle with Balloon, Goo with Yin-Yang, Lifering with Cabby, and Clover with Nickel. Silver Spoon is approached by Candle, with the former being happy to see her. Silver pulls out Candle's tuning fork, telling her it never left his side. Candle is surprised that Silver had remained attached to her. Candle tells him she is ready to rejoin the game, and that it was his arrogance that got her out in the first place.
Lifering tells Cabby that she's been making the indefinites proud, and that this challenge should be easy with her files. Cabby tells him she didn't want to use her files. He asks why, and she lies to him, saying she wanted to mix things up, but in reality was worried about reducing others to inaccurate depictions of themselves. Goo asks Yin-Yang if he should refer to them as Yin-Yang, or if it was weird to refer to both of them at once. Yin and Yang both start arguing with each other, with Yin being done with his insensitive remarks. Yang assumes Yin thinks he's the murderer, and Yin says that he knows it. Goo turns into a puddle, scared about what he had caused. Clover talks to Nickel about how silly her new hat was, but Nickel tells her it was a waste of time. Nickel says that she was already a "mass murderer" and her arrival time was very suspicious. Clover asks him if he had learned anything from his luck, and he tells the luck was the only reason people cared about him. Clover reminds him that he would've learned to share the wealth eventually, but because he never tried using his luck to help others, the day never came.
Bot tells Test Tube she didn't have to put them on a team with her, and Test Tube tells them she didn't want them with someone in particular. Bot finds the words "CA" under Blueberry's arm, and Test Tube assumes that this meant the killer was Cabby. Balloon talks to Tea Kettle about it felt nice to get approval from people it was hard to get it from, and she says she is proud of him for standing up for himself. Balloon comments on how the crime scene felt off, and that there were no visible wounds on Blueberry's body, and no murder weapon. Tea Kettle congratulates his thinking, and offers him a Puff Pastry. Balloon tries to eat it, but spits it out due to it tasting terrible. Balloon lashes out at her, and has a thought that Tea Kettle could've used them to poison Blueberry. Candle teste Silver on the boat, trying to get the exact amount of time it would've taken him to exit the boat. Silver rants in a confessional about how Candle has made him run the boat 73 times, but he will not stop until she ends up winning. Cabby wonders who would be awake enough at 3AM to do a murder plot, and Lifering asks if she knew anyone who was a night owl. Cabby says she remembers someone telling her that they function best in darkness, but can't remember their name. Lifering sees this as an oppurtinity for her to use her files, but she doesn't want to. Lifering says she doesn't need to live her life like a test, and that it's important to use the tools you have. Cabby smiles, and decides to go check on someone, but gets stuck in a piece of Goo laying on the ground.
Nickel, laying on a couch, talks to Clover about his old alliance with Suitcase in Season 2 and how Balloon turned her against him. Clover wonders if it was Balloon's fault, or if Suitcase decided to go against him herself. She points out that accountability is the core of his issues every time. Nickel realizes that the only reason hes opening up to her is the luck. Clover acknowledges that, but adds that he also wants to. Nickel gets up and finds a piece of paper on the ground, with a lot of mixed numbers on it. Clover assumes it is a coded message. Bot tries to talk to Test Tube about Cabby, and that she isn't who she thinks she is. Test Tube angrily tells them that all the both of them were just whatever Cabby writes on her files. Bot stops Test Tube from writing the rest of her name, and explains that it's just her process, and that the files can change. Bot leaves the area, exclaiming that they had something else to write. Silver walks over and topples down near Test Tube. He asks Candle what he thought of it, but Candle tells him she didn't record any of it. Silver angrily walks over to her, explaining that he's trying everything he can to help her win, and that it felt like she wanted him to stop existing only to serve her. Candle tells him that's exactly what she wanted to do. She tells him that he can't let his regret over her elimination consume him, and that he is not nothing without her.
Walkie tells everyone that time is almost up. Cabby approaches Bot to ask about her files, and Bot apologizes for making her think she needed permission to use them. Cabby brings up that she mischaracterized them. Bot gives Cabby a new file for themself, not wanting them to forget that they had talked about it, adding an image of themself as well. Cabby exclaims "It's you", and the two embrace a hug. Test Tube watches from a distance, and MePhone tells everyone to explain their suspects.
Test Tube explains that they had found "CA" by the body, with the killer being Candle. Bot adds that Cabby's wheels would've been squeaky enough that they would've heard her, which led Candle to being their guess. Balloon explains that he believes Blueberry was killed with an expired pastry, pinning Tea Kettle as the murderer. Tea Kettle says that the accusation was so ridiculous she pinned it on Balloon. Cabby believes that the murderer was Goo, due to part of his body being at the crime scene. Goo nervously says he didn't do it, and Lifering pulls out a hat and confronts him about how nervous he was. Nickel and Clover pull out the "coded message" they found, pointing out that in the ninth row diagonally down the message read "BOT". Bot and Test Tube start laughing, explaining that it was a word search that she had made to give Bot something to do on the ride there. Yin outright says that the murderer was Yang. Silver explains that the murderer must've been The Floor, believing that he knew he was a controversial subject for the indefiniters. Silver adds on that Blueberry was found on the floor. MePhone goes to revive Blueberry to find the truth, but is stopped by Blueberry himself.
Blueberry explains his plan. He wanted to rejoin the game with as little effort as possible, which required a lot of it. He explains that he functioned best in pitch black darkness. He picked up a piece of Goo and put it next to his body, and wrote "CA" to create two suspects in one. He explains he was able to remain deathly still due to his meditation training he was able to convince everyone that he was dead. Balloon realizes this was why there was no murder weapon. Silver asks him if he really expected someone to leave around a knife, and MePhone says that he had done it. Everyone looks at him concerned, and MePhone says it was just a callback to Knife from Season 2. The Floor wonders how Blueberry knew the rejoin contest would've been about his murder, and he explains that every challenge is one of MePhone's personal problems. Blueberry finishes, and tells everyone to start clapping.
MePhone decides that Blueberry wins the contest and rejoins the game, due to nobody finding out who "killed" him. MePhone tells the eliminated contestants that they would be voting for who wins the competition in the finale, and that the contestants who didn't stay on the island were welcome to come too. Silver walks up to Candle and gives her the tuning fork back, saying he didn't need it anymore. MePhone said sorry to Bot for not successfully coming back to the competition, and Bot said that what more they could expect this place to give them, implying that their quest of knowing who they are now is completed thanks to the help of being in the show as a contestant. Yin and Yang continue to argue, when they notice Nickel approaching Blueberry, formally reintroducing himself. Blueberry silences him, telling him that his first target would be Cabby.
Elimination[]
MePhone tells the contestants he feels more comfortable that nobody left is an actual murderer. Balloon wonders what it meant, that they all thought any one of them was a killer. Blueberry thinks it means they were all weak, with how easily fooled they all were. MePhone asks if anyone would want to use the Immunity Milk. Yang asks Yin if it was okay inside of his head, and Yin give permission to do so. Yin-Yang gives the Immunity Milk to Cabby, believing it would save her from elimination. Nickel receives 2 votes, and Yin-Yang receives 3, which starts to worry him. Yin-Yang becomes the 15th eliminated contestant, with 4 votes. Blueberry reveals that he made Yin-Yang think he would be safe. Balloon says that due to the jury voting the winner, Yin-Yang was too big of a threat and would beat all of them easily. Cabby apologizes to him for his wasted sacrifice, but Yin-Yang is happy because it gave them a personal victory. Yin-Yang gets launched into the sky, and the episode ends.

Production Notes[]
Cultural References[]
- The thumbnail is likely a reference to the "pointing soyjaks" meme.
Continuity References[]
- MePhone4 tells Clover to get one person to agree for her to participate, similar to him saying the same thing to Yin-Yang in Friend or Froze.
- Blueberry brings up the paint bombs from Stranded in Paradise as a way to get Nickel on his side.
- Front Facing Tea Kettle returns in this episode, a reference to Snapshot Showdown.
- The same music playing when Bot apologized to Cabby about not using her files from last episode is an indirect callback throughout in the episode Home Is Where the Heart Is.
- Yin and Yang's subconscious perspective has the same night sky theme that was used back in Out of Body Experience.
- This also marks a callback of with Yin and Yang in their separate bodies in the episode Tri Your Best back in Season 2.
- Speaking of Yin-Yang, When Yin said "Yang and I had a personal victory, and that is worth celebrating", Yang also said the same thing, which is still a callback to Out of Body Experience.
Trivia[]
- This episode has its title name to be a pun. The reason the episode title name is a pun because it refers to Blueberry, and how his part partakes the episode's plot.
- Somehow that the episode title name starts with the letter B- (two examples are Breaking the Ice in Season 2, and Best Served Cold). Meaning with Brian Koch writer of this episode, this is the only time the episode title whose first letter is the same with the writer's.
- This also marks the second episode to have another rejoin challenge, in participation with the remaining finalists.
- This is the first time the team with the most amount of current members is The Sinkers and it isn't a tie. However, The Thinkers and The Pinkers are stuck at the lowest, both with 1.
- This episode marks the use of Immunity Milk.
- Note: This is the only first and last time the Immunity Milk would be used and earned as what MePhone states "It can be used once this season... IF you earned it."
- This episode marks all remaining II2 contestants: Lightbulb in Episode 12, Baseball in Episode 13, Suitcase in Episode 14 and Knife in this episode being referenced.
- According to Brian on X/Twitter, this was unintentional up to Episode 14, but once Brian noticed the pattern he added Knife to finish it off.
- This marks the first time that Inanimate Insanity Invitational surpassed Inanimate Insanity II for the number of episodes released.
- This episode marks the first elimination taken place in broad daylight and in the morning due to the challenge taken place at midnight because of Walkie Talkie's confusion.
- With the use of the Immunity Cookie, Blueberry is seen for the first time with black eyes, unlike his usual natural white eyes.
- This also marks the first time in Inanimate Insanity Invitational where the challenge takes place at night.
- And the third episode overall where the episode took place at night, the first two being Sugar Rush and Let Er' R.I.P. in their respective seasons, with similiarities with Sugar Rush both released on October, and even without this episode they're both Halloween themed.
- This is the first Inanimate Insanity episode to reach the YouTube Trending page.[1]
- Due to Yin-Yang's elimination, Silver Spoon is now the only remaining contestant from The Original Thinkers.
- This is also means that with Yin-Yang's elimination, every former member of the The Bright Lights has been eliminated, as well as every Inanimate Insanity II debuter.
- On top of that Yin-Yang was 6th eliminated from last season, and because of Blueberry rejoining the game, Yin-Yang is placed 6th in this season.
- Due to Blueberry rejoining the game, Fan is now the lowest placing contestant in Inanimate Insanity Invitational. In fact, every eliminated contestant’s rankings have been altered (more specifically, shifted down one space), due to Blueberry recently being eliminated first.
- Also due to Blueberry's rejoin, Baseball is the only contestant to both place last in a season and not debut in Inanimate Insanity II.
- This is the second time that Balloon has flipped on an alliance this season, as he had previously flipped on the Looney Balloonies to join The New Old Thinkers before flipping back to his original alliance in this episode, due to finding out about the Jury vote format.
- The 2 contestants that received votes this episode (Nickel and Yin-Yang) both have plushies.
- This is the first Inanimate Insanity Invitational episode in 4K.
