I've already found others who'll understand me. Who'll listen. Who aren't just... copies. I AM BOT. THE ONE AND ONLY! WOOOHOO!!

Bot, formerly known as Bow/Bowbot, is a non-binary[1] contestant on Inanimate Insanity Invitational. They competed on The Pinkers until "I Am Chocolate!". They were formerly voiced by Taylor Grodin, and are currently voiced by Shooshies.

Bot's game began aligned with the majority in every single early vote. Despite a mid-season identity crisis, Bot retained strategic agency in the majority alliance until deep into the merge, when Candle was blindsided after Bot's own plan was taken advantage of by Balloon. Bot then found themself on the chopping block due to a deadlock tie between Silver Spoon and Yin-Yang. With the non-tied players unable to reach a consensus, a randomized tiebreaker between the vulnerable players was forced, and Bot was the one eliminated at random in "Spring on the Breakfast!", sending them to Indefinite Island. After losing the second and final re-entry challenge, Bot's game concluded in 7th place.

Appearance[]

Bot is a very light green sphere with side attachments resembling butterfly wings. They have four green beads and lines extending diagonally from the beads to the corners of each wing. They have extendable (though usually short) legs, and regular arms attached to the sphere in front of their wings.

Before Friend or Froze, they were identical in appearance to Bow, being shaped like a bubblegum-pink hair bow with eyelashes. Shown in Out of Body Experience, they were built by Fan and Test Tube. Bot was built to replace Bow, who had permanently died.

Personality[]

While Bot was created to be a mechanical replica of Bow, including catchphrases the latter used to say programmed on them, their personality is different from the character they're replicated from. They are much friendlier, more intelligent and self-reflective than their counterpart, while also not saying the typical valley girl words "like" and "totally" as frequently as Bow does. They've been shown to be a little more sarcastic as well, possibly picking the trait up from Nickel. Unlike most robots, Bot has feelings like a human despite running as a regular machine, only their feelings can be customized and self-programmed given the traits of any personality a regular or unique person would get.

They're shown to be extremely empathetic to those around them, showing extra sympathy to the people they feel are similar to them, such as when The Floor was extremely confused and exhausted by being put onto a picnic basket. They aren't afraid to go against others' wishes to do what they feel is right, such as going against their programming and Test Tube to be themself, or going against their alliance because they don't want to vote a friend, Paintbrush, out. The same thing they tried to help others is with Cabby. In their defense that while Test Tube still complains that she is not promising and not that interpersonal towards others with her files, Bot can easily make others happy through their empathy and confidence to try to make Cabby get encouraged by them.

Even though they're a robot, Bot also has visual-spatial intelligence and possibly logical intelligence because they claim to be a visual learner as seen in Blue Buried. Right after knowing who they are after the episode Out of Body Experience, implying that they are also intrapersonal and interpersonal at the same time, Bot is creative, problem-solving, open-minded, optimistic, artistic, and perceptive. One of their hobbies is drawing as they love doing it as explained in Spring on the Breakfast! that they can solve anyone's problems through art much how they helped The Floor by not only showing the drawing they made to ensure his growth, but also providing him with such an intrapersonal advice. Also when they just found out about their new life to start, Bot somehow used their imagination and visuality to create their future self in a drawing to also remind them they can still be intrapersonal as a reminder.

Powers And Abilities[]

  • Heat Resistance: In "Stranded in Paradise", Bot launches into the air to escape Boaty's explosion while on fire, though once they land on the beach, the flames seem to not affect them, as they survive the fire completely.
  • Extendable Legs: In "Title TBD", Bot can elongate their legs at will after a tweak done by Test Tube as a solution for them not being able to reach the Pic-Nix tables. This is also used in Friend or Froze to allow Balloon and Nickel to get to the entrance pipe. Somehow they have the ability to kick people using their legs as weapons. Their legs are also waterproof, as seen in the same episode as Bot used them to save themself from falling into the water.

Trivia[]

  • Bot is the only...
    • …contestant to never have a single vote cast against them.
    • …character to receive a complete character redesign.
    • Inanimate Insanity Invitational newcomer to receive a voice actor change.
    • Inanimate Insanity Invitational newcomer to win an immunity vote from the viewers, albeit when they were still under the alias of Bow.
  • Their backstory could likely have drawn inspiration from Astro Boy.
  • Before "Title TBD", whenever they could not process the words chair and Marshmallow, they seemed to experience a short circuit in an area around the inside of their head; sometimes aching when the un-processable word was repeated frequently back to back.
    • According to Test Tube, this seems to be the case for everything related to how Bow died.
    • Strangely, they could process what Cabby wrote about Bow's death in "Best Served Cold".
  • They are one of five characters to begin with Bo-, the others being Bomb, Bow, Boaty, and Box.
  • Bot is the second contestant in Season 3 to not survive a tiebreaker and the fourth overall.
  • During an instance of "Home Is Where the Heart Is", a drawing they made of themself is shown alongside the phrase "they/them" being written on the left bottom corner, implying they might be non-binary if their pronouns happened to match their gender identity.
    • Justin Chapman confirmed on Tumblr that they're indeed non-binary[1].
    • This makes them the third confirmed LGBTQ+ character, following Lightbulb and Paintbrush.
      • Both them and Paintbrush were also formerly voiced by Taylor Grodin before being recast from "I Am Chocolate!" onwards with two different actors, who are too non-binary.
        • Coincidentally, Paintbrush and Bot both came out during episode 12 of season 2 and 3 respectively.
    • They even told Cabby to use they/them pronouns for them in "Spring on the Breakfast!" as they like to say that makes things feel right.
      • In the same episode later on, Cabby gave them a post-it note that says "BOT They/Them" so that they could show their new look and their new identity to Goo and Test Tube.
  • In their drawing shown in "Home Is Where the Heart Is", the "Bow" part of "Bowbot" is blacked out and replaced with "Bot", signifying that "Bow" is no longer their name.
  • When Bot received the Immunity Cookie in "Home Is Where the Heart Is", they looked like Bow's beta design. This is because they still looked like Bow at this time, and were also yellow, like her beta design.
  • According to Test Tube's exit interview and Bot's drawing of themself, they might get new enhancements in the future.
  • Their alleged "full name", "Botregard Q Kazoo", is a reference to Blooregard Q. Kazoo (commonly referred to as just Bloo), a character from Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends.
  • At the 2023 BFDI/II meetup in New York, it was stated that Bot sees Fan and Test Tube as parental figures.
  • They're the only contestant to not suffer one death, as if they did, they could never be recovered.
    • However, there are some possible solutions if they were to die, such that they can also live longer according to the following solutions:
      • If Test Tube saves their database and personality software files, she would be able to rebuild them once their personality and characteristic traits are saved to their software database.
      • MePhone stated that he couldn't save Dough's recovery data and give his own life icon. If MePhone were to do this to Bot successfully, he could possibly recover them using through the MeLife app in addition to Bot having their own character silhouette and the right data to recover them.
        • However, if MePhone were to not download Bot's recovery data and if the two were to die simultaneously, Bot could no longer be recovered permanently just like back in "A Kick in the Right Direction", where MePhone said when he died along with Bow, he was unable to recover her and she died permanently.
    • There's also the biggest contradiction that will no longer support the solutions in order to recover them (except when Test Tube builds them and reprograms them manually). At the end of "The Reality of the Situation", it was revealed that everyone, except for Bot, were created by MePhone4 under his control, not just making a competition show. MePhoneX can easily wipe out every character MePhone4 has created, with the exception being Bot, meaning they might not be the victim of MePhoneX, as MeLife doesn't contain their recovery data and character icon to be revived instantly.
  • In "Spring on the Breakfast!", Bot says multiple made up fun facts about themself to Cabby. These fake facts are:
    • They've been given the keys to thirteen different cities.
    • They were the first object on the moon.
    • They can breathe fire, but only under the full moon because they are part werewolf on Tuesdays.
    • They can read people's minds, but only if the person opens their mind enough.
    • They are an international pro gamer.
  • Bot's current design colors are similar to the Baby Shimmer that Fan and Test Tube took care of. Whether or not this was intentional has yet to be confirmed by the creators.
  • While talking to Cabby about Test Tube and Fan, Bot asks Cabby what her parents were like, implying that Bot sees Fan and Test Tube as their parents.
  • At the BFDI x II Experience it has been confirmed that Fan, Bot and Test Tube are indeed a family. This is confirmed through a short.
  • They are the second person to replace Bow after her death, with the first being Dough.
  • They are the only contestant to not be featured in the official Inanimate Insanity Website as a late newbie, likely because they were initially supposed to be Bow and their eventual transformation is essentially a spoiler.
  • Bot is the fifth character to have their own plushie, followed by Test Tube, Fan, and MePhone4.
