"Fan the Flames" is the 4th episode of Inanimate Insanity IV, and the 59th overall. The episode released on November 28, 2025.[1]
Plot[]
The episode continues where the last episode left off, with MeTag running through the forest with Poppy. Fan chases after them, but is stopped by Bot who insists on catching up with them instead. Fan shows concern for Bot's safety, telling them to not go alone, but with Bot telling Fan to get backup after a few minutes, Fan lets them go on their own. When Bot corners Metag and Poppy at a cliff, Poppy vents out their frustrations with their treatment to Bot. When backup arrives, MeTag activates a barrier to keep everyone away from themselves and Poppy. The contestants outside the barrier try their best to rescue Bot and Poppy, and then witness as MeTag establishes a connection with a new figure. When Bot and Poppy start fighting, Fan gets worried for Bot and climbs up the barrier, folding open and gliding down from it. He gets struck by lightning before he can reach the ground, igniting in fire and flying off the cliff, and then is rushed to the hospital.
The next day, many contestants who now fear for their safety ask Test Tube to spray them with the Blue Ray before OJ enters, explaining that the Blue Ray is in very limited supply in that, if they used it all up, they wouldn't have enough to keep them safe or provide them with building materials so he said that if they needed an actual medical attention, they have to leave which they agreed with then Lightbulb and OJ also got sprayed with the blue ray afterwards, OJ asked Test Tube if they should cancel the game, Test Tube respond that even though it was hard, they had to continue the game because in a game Bible that Fan wrote, it said that “In the event of my death or incapacitation via combustion the game must continue at my fire can burn on” with the two of them sharing a laugh on how thorough he is. He agrees that they should let the game continue but he decided for test tube to take a break and let him monitor the situation so she could rest because she's done enough already. Back at Hoot, OJ announces the fourth challenge.
Challenge[]
The challenge is about getting Fan a present to keep his mind off things, so all four teams decide what they want to give Fan as a present. Circumspect decides to make a theory about the identity and motives of the unnamed corn, Thematic Cats made a special dining place but when it got ruined, they made an excuse that it was an "area to let go of stress". Go Big or Be Last makes an area for Fan to get strong for future problems. Heavy Metal Pop Stars made a concert for Fan but when they were preforming Tapey forgot to capture the music and instead played what Poppy was telling her. Paper gets furious and yells at Poppy before Lightbulb pushes them aside. Paper's fireworks hit the curtain causing it to combust into flames, thus losing the challenge.
Elimination[]
Tensions run high as a disappointed OJ berates the Heavy Metal Pop Stars for not being able to work together. They all put their votes in the urn, with Poppy voting for Paper. Before OJ reads the votes, Poppy decides to spin the wheel, since they think they will be voted off. When they spin it, it lands on green, meaning they're safe from elimination. Most of the votes were for Poppy, however, since one was for Lightbulb, she is the next one to be eliminated. Afterwards, OJ tells Paper that Poppy is one of them, and Paper vows to make it right.
At the hospital during her visit, Test Tube cries by Fan's side as he lays in the hospital bed and they hold hands. Bot listens from outside, then heads to MePad Mansion where they come across Bow.

Production Notes[]
Continuity References[]
- OJ takes over hosting duties, just like in "Everything's A-OJ".
- Cammy's line about the show being "the legacy Fan left behind" is a callback to him saying the exact same thing, verbatim, about MePhone4 in "Cob Mentality".
- Also saying his line verbatim, Jack helps out Heavy Metal Pop Stars the same way he helped out Circumspect in the previous episode.
- Microphone says "Oh, now you're two people, real convenient" to the Cherries while debating who should get Blu-Rayed, which is a reference to the conversation they had in "Cob Mentality" about whether the Cherries count as one person or two.
Cultural References[]
- Like in the previous episode, Adam's 2019 short film Uneven Evan briefly appears on the TV in Test Tube's lab again.
- The black-and-white makeup worn by Heavy Metal Pop Stars for their performance is likely a nod to the similar makeup worn by the American rock band Kiss.
- Following beforehand, as OJ enters the stage room, the Minecraft door sound effect can be heard.
Trivia[]
- This is the first episode of the season Brian Koch did not write.
- This is the first episode since "Title TBD" where a team loses and is put up for elimination twice in a row.
- This is the third time Paper ended up being put up for elimination in a row.
- So far, Paper is the only contestant yet to be safe from elimination.
- Lightbulb is the first Season 1 veteran to get eliminated.
- This is the second time the elimination wheel was used to determine a contestant's fate.
- This time it was Poppy, and they were saved from receiving votes, making it the first time someone received immunity from the wheel.
- This marks the introduction of a new purple corn character with a white husk, whose name is unknown as it has yet to be heard or said and the character is credited as "???".
- They also have close relations from Steve Cobs based on their dialogue.
- This episode was the last episode of both this season and the overall series to release in 2025.
Goofs[]
- At 1:47 in the episode, likely due to the small amount of time she's visible on-screen, Suitcase isn't animated properly; instead of running like everyone else, she glides forward along the ground with no animation while smiling.
- At 2:50, as Poppy is talking to the unnamed corn, Lifering's sash disappears. It then stays missing for the rest of the scene, including when Fan climbs on top of him.
- At 6:08, as Bot is talking to Test Tube, one-fourth of the shimmer energy in their sprayer suddenly disappears and reappears.
- The same error later happens repeatedly with Test Tube's sprayer when OJ tells Bot and Lightbulb to leave at 6:37.
- At 8:15, Lifering's asset lighting suddenly changes.
- At 10:23, Tea Kettle seems to be reading from a sketchpad as she tells the Cherries to get chairs, but it appears completely blank in the next shot.
- At 14:12, Box is seen holding a green rope, but Bonesaw has a reddish-orange rope attached to his harness. This is fixed by 14:45 when both halves of the rope become green.
- At 14:32, Apple's injured hand is backwards.
- At 26:32, once Test Tube enters the hospital, her liquid's surface suddenly becomes leveled, despite previously being frozen in the same state as when she first fell at the end of "Cob Mentality".
Injuries/Changed[]
- Fan: Struck by lightning and critically injured.
- OJ: Had the Blu-Ray applied to him.
- Balloon: Had the Blu-Ray applied to him.
- Lightbulb: Her Blu-Ray started to wear off, turning her a noticeable green color with small yellow spots around her metal sleeve, but it was quickly reapplied.
