Inanimate Insanity (also known as Inanimate Insanity 1/Inanimate Insanity I), often abbreviated as I.I. or II1, is the first season of the Inanimate Insanity series, that premiered on April 1, 2011, with the first episode, "The Crappy Cliff". The season premiered on the YouTube channel AnimationEpic and has 18 episodes in total. The series came to a temporary halt on June 1, 2012 for a summer hiatus, but returned on September 1, 2012. The final episode, "Journey Through Memory Lane (Part 2)", was released on December 8, 2012, concluding the season with 18 episodes total (not including 5.5). It ultimately crowned OJ as the winner of the first season by winning the final challenge, beating out the runner-up, Taco.

Inanimate Insanity was succeeded by Inanimate Insanity II, released on April 2, 2013, with the release of "Breaking the Ice".

A compilation of all the episodes was released on February 22, 2025. At the end of the video, a message appeared, saying that the season “may be due for an upgrade.” This message led to the announcement of Inanimate Insanity Season 1 Remastered, a remake of the season, on March 1, 2025, with the first two episodes having their release dates revealed.[1]

The team that loses the challenge originally had to eliminate a contestant (usually the one who caused them to lose), but then changed it to that the viewers vote on this. The eliminated contestant is never to be seen again except either when a process of rejoining or a scene from Idiotic Island.

Trivia[]

  • This was the only season (excluding the remaster) to not have a meetup.
  • Season 1 was mostly animated with Anime Studio 6 Pro rather than Adobe Flash.
    • However, the introduction of Adobe Animate is seen in "The Tile Divide", mixed with Moho animation.
  • Inanimate Insanity was the third object show on YouTube, with the first being Battle for Dream Island, and the second being Total Fruit Island.[2]
    • Inanimate Insanity was thought of as the second object show until 2021, and is still commonly mistaken as such. This is due to Total Fruit Island being an obscure show whose episodes were all later deleted.
      • This makes Inanimate Insanity the second object show with episodes currently officially available online.
  • Season 1 began on April 1st, which also coincides with April Fools' Day.
    • The following two seasons would follow the same trend of starting in April, but coincide their respective numbers with the date. Season 2 began on April 2nd, 2013, and Season 3 began on April 3rd, 2021.
  • Season 1 ran for 1 year and 8 months (or 618 days) from April 1st, 2011 to December 8th, 2012.
    • This makes Season 1 the shortest season of the series spanned across time.
  • The intro for Season 1 was altered several different times:
    • In "Sugar Rush" the intro is slowed down and a red filter is applied. The words "Halloween Special" appear under the title.
    • In "4Seeing The Future" MePhone4 is cut off abruptly by the explosion. The words "Under New Hostmanship" appear under the title.
    • In "The Snowdown" a jingle bell is played throughout the intro. The words "Holiday Special" appear under the title.
    • Starting from "Aquatic Conflict" and on, the intro is updated to feature new character poses. The background is also changed to be MePhone4's background.
  • The music for the intro is "Aces High" by Kevin MacLeod. "Aces High" would be reused as the intro song for Inanimate Insanity II.
  • MePhone4, Taco, OJ and Pickle are the only characters to appear in every episode of the season.
  • The Logo of Season 1 uses the Samdan font, and the color code is #69e73d, which is named Miyazaki Verdant.
