Inanimate Insanity II: The Movie[3] (formerly known by its working title, II2 Episode 16) is a YouTube original movie that serves as the finale for Inanimate Insanity II, comprised of three individual parts (referred to as "acts"). The first part of the finale, dubbed Act I and titled "The Reality of the Situation" released on September 7, 2024. Act II, titled "Through No Choice of Your Own", was released on October 12, 2024. The third and final act, titled "Objects in Mirror", was announced through an ARG, and was released onto YouTube on November 29, 2024. If all three parts of the movie are counted as a singular episode, the movie is the 16th and final episode of the season, hence its working title.

The full movie was shown live at four screenings from November 24 to December 1, three of which included Act III prior to its YouTube release. The full movie will be released on YouTube on a future date.

Production Notes[]

Continuity References[]

Behind the Scenes[]

  • According to Brian Koch, several ideas for the movie have been in his brain since 2013. He additionally envisioned the final 2 would be Knife and Suitcase around that time.
  • The debatably biggest inspiration for the movie was Toy Story 3.
    • Other influences included Toy Story, Toy Story 2, Inside Out, Steven Universe: The Movie, The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, Deathly Hallows Part 2, tick, tick… BOOM!, Hoodwinked!, BoJack Horseman, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Shrek, Muppets Most Wanted, Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

Trivia[]

  • Several early screenings for the movie were held prior to the YouTube release of "Objects in Mirror". Alongside the full movie, a live Q&A section was held after the screenings.[38] The locations and dates included:
    • November 24, 2024 at the Rich Mix Theatre (London, UK)
      • This screening was hosted by Inanimate Insanity animator Khoreo. However, the directors were not in attendance.
      • This screening was the first official Inanimate Insanity event outside of the United States.
    • November 25, 2024 at the Laemmle NoHo 7 Theater (Los Angeles, CA)
    • November 26, 2024 at the Laemmle Glendale Theater (Los Angeles, CA)
  • Following the official announcement of the movie, Brian Koch began to post very frequently about the movie, talking about his main inspirations, challenging fans to reach goals for hints, and a poll for which character the fans wanted to win.
    • On August 29, Brian made a post challenging the fans to get AnimationEpic to 610K subscribers, to which he would reveal the title of Act 1. However, this goal was not met.
      • This post additionally featured a zoomed-up image from the movie. This image was later revealed to be from OJ's Closet, as seen in the trailer for "The Reality of the Situation".
      • From September 3 to 6, Brian additionally did several challenges with fans to reveal the title of the first act. More information can be found here.
  • The announcement of the movie and the trailer for Act I were both posted by ToonHive, a large indie-based news account with over 72,000 followers.[39]
  • The official movie poster revealed special guests that were mentioned previously, but remained anonymous prior to Act III's announcement. The guests mentioned were Aisha Rae and Angela Giarratana, who is known for being featured in Smosh and Starkid.
  • Blueberry, Bot, and Tea Kettle were the only contestants in the Inanimate Insanity series to not have their voice actors (Barry Strum, Shooshies, and Jill Katz respectively) listed on the movie's poster. Despite this, they were all voiced in Act III.
  • Baxter is credited as playing himself in the credits. This is a joke, however, which is why it is not included in the credits section of this page.
  • Brian said in a livestream after "Objects in Mirror" that the production time for the finale was between nine to eleven months, although the ideas for it were in development for many years.[40]
  • The full movie was initially intended to release onto YouTube sometime before December 25th, 2024. However, this ended up not being the case. It is currently unknown when the full cut will be released.
  • For some reason, the movie is on the AMC Theaters website.
  • Since Suitcase won the season:
    • She is the second newbie, rejoining (technically), and female contestant to win a season, following Cabby.
      • Although going by season order, she is the first newbie and female contestant to win a season.
    • She is the first armless contestant to win a season.
    • Every winner of a season has different limbs; OJ has arms and legs, Suitcase only has legs, and Cabby only has arms.
  • If Knife won:
    • He would be the second male contestant to win a season, following OJ.
      • He would also be the second winner with both arms and legs, following OJ.
    • He would be the first Team Epic member to win a season.
    • He would be the first veteran to win a season.
    • He would be the only winner to have a monochromatic color scheme.
    • It would be his fifth season winning overall from the entire videography of AnimationEpic, only if Inanimate Battle is included and considered to be an actual show.
