—MePhone4, Stranded in Paradise |
Inanimate Insanity Invitational, abbreviated as III or II3, is the third season of Inanimate Insanity created by Adam Katz and directed by Brian Koch and Justin Chapman.
The series was first announced on the Inanimate Insanity Direct that was broadcasted on AnimationEpic's YouTube channel on April 1, 2021, on the 10th Anniversary of Inanimate Insanity. The first episode was released two days later, on April 3, 2021. The final episode, "You Can't Do This Forever", ended by crowning Cabby as the winner with a 7-6-2 vote from the Jury. It was released on March 3, 2024, ending the season with 19 episodes.
The season is additionally set between the events of "Hatching the Plan" and "Truth or Flare".
Overview[]
Sometime after the events of Hatching the Plan, nine fan-selected contestants received VIP invitations under the guise of seeing Spoiled Lemon, a popular band, playing live at a vacation resort. Once they arrive on the tropical island called Paradise, the invitations are revealed to be fake, and the contestants are swindled into yet another competition hosted by MePhone4 alongside nine brand new contestants, for a total of eighteen contestants split into three teams of six, eventually named The Sinkers, The Thinkers and The Pinkers. The teams were later rearranged into two teams of six in Episode 7. The teams then compete in various challenges created by MePhone4 in the familiar style of the previous seasons. The team that loses is then up for elimination, while the two other teams are safe from elimination.
At eliminations, contestants will vote for who they would like to eliminate from their own team. The contestant with the most votes is eliminated and sent to Indefinite Island where they are given the choice to remain for a chance to rejoin the game, or leave. Although viewers cannot vote for contestants to be eliminated, they are able to vote for one contestant from each of the three teams after every episode to be given immunity and be safe from elimination. Voting is held at inanimateinsanity.com/vote and usually has a window of about a week after every episode airs. This ended after Episode 12 due to Yin-Yang being guaranteed to win.
This season has been stated to have a far different approach to the competition than its predecessors. Although it is still character-driven, the stories are less intense and dark like Season 2 and adopt a more light-hearted competition-angled approach, similar to Season 1. According to Adam Katz, the goal of Season 3 was to return to the original roots of the show.
In "A Jury of Your Fears", it was revealed that Inanimate Insanity Invitational was created as an escape from the previous season, with no cash prize or definitive winner planned. The Final 3 would've been the team leaders in the planned 4th season.

Favorite Contestant Voting[]
On February 13, 2021, a video called "Inanimate Insanity - VOTE FOR YOUR FAVORITE!" was released prompting viewers to vote for their favorite character among the contestants from Season 1 and Season 2. In the Inanimate Insanity Direct, following the announcement of the third season, Adam confirmed that they took the results of the favorite character poll into consideration when creating the cast of Season 3. However, any "important characters" tied to Season 2's ongoing story were intentionally excluded.
On April 10, 2021, the results were displayed in "Why We Made Inanimate Insanity Season 3". There were 22,513 votes in total. Contestants with green votes joined the season. Contestants with red votes were excluded, due to them still being a part of Season 2.
Icon | Name | Number of votes |
---|---|---|
Lightbulb | 4,724 | |
Yin-Yang | 2,227 | |
Paintbrush | 1,402 | |
Knife | 1,400 | |

Suitcase | 1,019 | |
Bow | 1,008 | |
Taco | 890 | |
Balloon | 872 | |
OJ | 740 | |
Box | 695 | |
Nickel | 609 | |
Microphone | 596 | |
Baseball | 556 | |
Paper | 420 | |
Cheesy | 394 | |

Bomb | 222 | |
Soap | 217 | |
Apple | 212 | |
Cherries | 176 | |
Tissues | 150 | |
Dough | 127 | |
Pickle | 114 | |
Salt | 41 | |
Pepper | 36 |
Although Lightbulb, Knife, and Suitcase had enough votes, they were excluded from consideration. Bow also had enough votes to join, however due to her being dead and her soul being bound to the Purgatory Mansion, (preventing her from leaving) she was replaced with Bot. Additionally, Taco also had enough votes but was tied to the season's drama. It was stated that although both Microphone and Baseball didn't get enough votes to join the season, they would still be excluded due to their importance to Season 2's ongoing plot.
Trivia[]
- The season began on April 3, 2021, and coincidentally, April was the same month its two predecessors began.
- The date is patterned with the previous seasons’ release dates. Season 1 premiered on April 1st, 2011, and Inanimate lnsanity ll premiered on April 2nd, 2013.
- Additionally, the date of Season 3 is descending count-down, 4/3/21, while the intro of the starts with a count-up to the number 3.
- Like the previous two seasons, this season uses a new unique art style, featuring different colors for existing contestants and new looks for the eyes, mouths and limbs.
- The style is somewhat reminiscent of the Inanimate Insanity Shorts "Waffling About" and "Seas the Day", but with notably less choppier animation anless of a Paper-Mario like style.
- This season has been activated for 3 years (1095 days), from April 3, 2021, to March 3, 2024.
- The third season was announced at the end of the Inanimate Insanity Direct.
- It was teased as a "big announcement" shortly before.
- The broadcast confirmed that Season 2 would still continue as planned and will run alongside Season 3, and that the 15th episode of Season 2 is in development.
- The season's abbreviation is III, which is 3 in Roman Numerals, in reference to the third season.
- As of this season, Balloon, Nickel, and Paintbrush are the only returning contestants who have competed in every season of Inanimate Insanity.
- OJ is the only returning contestant who has competed in Season 1 but not in Season 2.
- Lifering is the only newcomer to Inanimate Insanity Invitational that appeared in previous content.
- This is the first season to:
- Introduce confessionals.
- Have three teams instead of two.
- Allow viewers vote for contestant immunity instead of elimination.
- Solely have contestant-voted eliminations with no viewer-voted eliminations.
- Incorporate contestants who competed in Season 1 and not Season 2.
- Not have Apple, Marshmallow, Baseball, Knife, or Lightbulb competing.
- Premiere before a previous season has ended, with Season 2 having two episodes left at the time of the premiere.
- Not utilize "Aces High" as the intro song. Though the intro music takes inspiration from the tune.
- Have a contestant built by other contestants.
- Hide a contestant's true identity and introduce them as someone else.
- Have an official dub, with the Spanish dub by Unilingo starting on May 21, 2024. Unilingo is also known for making the Spanish dub of Battle For Dream Island.
- This season's intro was animated by Niall Burns while the music was created by John Mietus.
- In "Why We Made Inanimate Insanity Season 3" it was confirmed that each new episode of this season is planned to be released every 2-3 months.
- The season, however, has taken short breaks during the summer and winter.
- It was revealed in The Music Behind Inanimate Insanity that the season was originally called Inanimate Insanity: Fans vs. Favorites.
- This is the third consecutive season where a male is the first contestant eliminated.
- This is also the third season where a male is also the second contestant eliminated.
- And another season where a male specifically a first boot gets to rejoin only for one episode.
- So far that this is the only season to have two rejoiners and two rejoin challenges. Partially including Season 1 due to its sixth episode replace a former contestant to a remaining contestant (which is obviously the formula when another contestant gets eliminated whereas the rejoiner replaces them in the same episode).
- This is the second season where a contestant ends up getting a disqualification. In this season's case; medical evacuation. Whereas last season a contestant gets disqualified by the next episode.
- This is the first season to have all contestants eliminated at least once, to which Cabby is a rejoiner.
- Also so far that as of "The Great Bluish Bake Off", there were no double eliminations occurred throughout this season. By the time this season ends, this will be the only season that a double elimination is not occurred or not announced. That alone that when no double eliminations happen, this season would possibly pass all eighteen and a half episodes of Season 1.
- That would change by the next to last episode where the episode trailer itself claims to be the "penultimate" episode of this season. And just like with "The Penultimate Poll" in Season 1, a possible occurrence will happen by all means the past eliminated contestants will decide who gets 3rd place.
- After Blueberry got eliminated in The Great Bluish Bake Off, he became the second contestant to be the 16th eliminated after originally being the first out. This is following Paper after he did the same thing in Season 1.
- It is officially the first object show series to complete its third season.
- After Season 2 ends, it will be the first object show series in history to complete three full seasons (apart from timely shows such as The Daily Object Show and The Hourly Object Show).
- The winner of this season is a rejoiner. That makes the season one of, if not, the first object show season where a rejoiner wins.
- Additionally, that also makes this season one of, if not, the first object show season where every contestant got eliminated at least once. (Unless if one doesn't count Silver Spoon and Balloon failing to win the finale counts as an elimination)
- At the end of most episodes of the season, a character says "Adamation" in line with the title card. This includes:
- Clover in "Stranded in Paradise".
- Tea Kettle in "The Shame of the Name".
- Goo in "Snapshot Showdown".
- Candle in "The Overthinkers".
- Cabby in "Tragedy at 60 Feet".
- The Floor in "Try Not To Laugh Challenge".
- Zoetrope in "Title TBD".
- Bot in "I Am Chocolate!".
- Tootsy Wootsy in "Pesty Besties".
- Paintbrush in "Home Is Where the Heart Is".
- Silver Spoon in "Friend or Froze".
- Yin-Yang in "Spring on the Breakfast!".
- Lifering in "Blue Buried".
- Tyler Bombard in "The Great Bluish Bake Off".
- Balloon in "You Can't Do This Forever".
- This is by far the first season to receive its own compilation. If you want to watch this season as a whole, watch it here.
- As of The Reality of The Situation, more contestants from the season could reside in Hotel OJ, for example, Goo, Candle, and Cabby in the aforementioned episode.[1]
