Pencil is a minor character in Inanimate Insanity. She first appeared in "The Arena Of Death", and later made non-canonical appearances in shorts for the BFDI X II meetups for 2022 and 2024, before appearing again as a minor character in Inanimate Insanity IV. She is voiced by Michael Huang.
Appearance[]
Pencil appears to be a No. 2 graphite pencil, a type most commonly used for writing and drawing. Her design includes a beige tip where the wood is exposed, followed by a sharp, dark gray point that represents the graphite. Her cylindrical body is divided into three distinct shades of orange, giving her a layered and detailed look. The section near the top of her body is wrapped in a silver metal band, which connects to a standard pink eraser. Altogether, her appearance clearly reflects that of a realistic pencil while still fitting the simplified art style used in the series.
Between her appearances in Battle for Dream Island and Battle for Dream Island Again, Pencil underwent a subtle design change. Her facial features, including her eyes and mouth, were moved slightly closer together. This small adjustment made her expressions more focused and easier to animate in close-up shots. The rest of her appearance remained mostly the same, maintaining her recognizable shape and color scheme while adapting to the evolving style of the show.
Personality[]
It is unknown if her personality is the exact same as the original Pencil[1], but Pencil already seems to be just as standoffish from how she calls Nickel a "jerk" for insulting pencils, thinking they are stupid. She also erases Box's name from the list of reservations at Reality Restaurant and replaces it with her own while reserving a seat for her and Magnet, implying she likes to get whatever she wants by force. She also seems to be physically weak as of Fan the Flames.

Inanimate Insanity[]
In "The Arena Of Death" and "The Arena of Death (Remastered)" Pencil abruptly appears and calls Nickel a "jerk" during the elimination ceremony after he stated that pencils were stupid, after becoming annoyed that the prizes for cookies were switched for pencils. MePhone4 then was annoyed at her interrupting the elimination and punched her away using the Fist Thingy, also introducing the Fist Thingy at the same time. She also popped Balloon at the end of the episode as she was flying away.
Inanimate Insanity IV[]
In "The Future Is Today!", Pencil reserves a seat at Reality Restaurant with Magnet, before appearing as part of the crowd at MePad Mansion for a meeting and getting excited to hear about the revival of Inanimate Insanity.
In "Fan the Flames", she helps out Go Big or Be Last for their gift to Fan using gym equipment alongside Apple and Blueberry. She was instructed by Trophy to doing 20 pushups for Fan, but tells her to do five pushups instead. Once she was done contributing her part with GBBL, she asked Lifering about her community service, which bothered him slighty.

- In a Q&A for the 2025 BFDI and II meetup, Adam Katz confirmed that this Pencil was made by MePhone4 for a one-off gag and is not the same as her BFDI counterpart.[2]
- Along with Camera 2, she was one of the two S4 newbies to not compete in Inanimate Insanity IV.
