"Run the Risk!" is the 3rd episode of Inanimate Insanity IV, and the 58th overall. The episode released on September 20, 2025.
The episode takes place directly after the events of "Cob Mentality".
Plot[]
Cold Open[]
Right after Jack's elimination, Jack claims that he was "caught up in the moment", which doesn't excuse to Fan or Bot, claiming that he attempted to murder Test Tube. Bot replies that they've all heard better excuses, but Jack claims that it was an accident, much to Fan's frustration. Jack admits that he is "impulsive", but reminds Fan about he said that by learning from his mistakes, he still deserves to be in the game. Fan sighs in exhaustion but hesitantly remarks that Jack is a "danger to society" which concerns Jack a bit.
Jack's Fate[]
Later, Jack is put on trial because of his crimes, and the OSC, (including Suitcase) takes this as an example of the game being a bad influence. Fan out-willingly says that they've "had a good run", but with a little motivation from Test Tube, the show is saved from being canceled. OJ asks if there have been any other "outbursts" during the game, Fan looks out the window to see Teddy Bear and Cammy still arguing about their worship towards their creator, and brushes it off by replying that it's been much more "manageable". Suitcase claims that the Safety factor isn't being used in the game, decides to supervise the cast for the rest of the day, and warns them that if anything bad happens again, she'll cancel the show and "crush everyone's dreams", much to Fan and Test Tube's concern.
Team & Name Picking[]
Everyone outside of HOOT asks about the rumors of a "near-death experience", but Suitcase, Fan, and Test Tube try to play it off. Fan announces that the teams will be formed based on their scores from the previous challenge, which Microphone finds similar to what MePhone4 did in the start of Season 2. The names have to consist of a word that includes each member's first letter of their name, (with the choice of adding letters), and whichever team has the fewest characters would win. Test Tube used the Blue Ray to cast "Spheres of Silence", to keep team naming a surprise. Eventually, after Fan sees everyone's reactions, the teams, (along with their names), are as listed...
- Thematic Cats (13 Characters)
- Go Big Or Be Last (17 Characters)
- Heavy Metal Pop Stars (21 Characters)
- Circumspect (11 Characters)
Since the Blue team, Circumspect, had the least number of letters, and their team name was one word, their prize is a visit to Test Tube's Lab, where they are shown clips of the outside world[1], after Cammy asks if it has cartoons. Test Tube changes the channel, which shows a broadcast hosted by an unknown silhouette. They showcase a new report of the return of Inanimate Insanity, as well as the "mysterious death" of Meeple CEO Steve Cobs, and Fan quickly shuts off the device.
The Challenge[]
After Jack picks to assist team Circumspect in the challenge, Fan announces the challenge is similar to a multi-part race, consisting of 5 games - guided running, a maze, rope jumping, rock-climbing, and go-karting, all while one member will be blindfolded, and the other will not. The first blindfolded member will then guide the next member in blindfold, and after the 2nd blindfolded member is done at the round, they advance to help the 3rd blindfolded member, and so on and that the last team to make it to the end will be up for elimination.
Guided Running[]
Despite Lifering's attempts to help her, Box struggles to run with her blindfold, he brings up that other senses should be enhanced due to the blindfold but she clarifies that it's likely on when born blind. Lightbulb talks to Starfruit about how he can stop pretending to be someone else, (which was being a famous singer of his own band), and that he should "recycle" himself into what he wants to be. Starfruit takes her advice but realize that they're both falling behind. Soap tells Teddy Bear that she's going to fast, but Teddy gets angry and sarcastically says she though it was a race. In the end, Cammy and Pepper make it to the finish line, while Pepper claims that she's an expert at "following blindly".
No-Hands Maze[]
Inside the maze, Box tries to direct Trophy through the maze but is taught her lefts and rights and Trophy figures to go the opposite way of Box. Microphone gets an idea, tells Soap about how Taco helped her win the previous maze challenge, and the two split up, which Microphone immediately regrets. Go Big Or Go Home & Circumspect are in the lead while the other two teams try to catch up.
Rope Swings[]
Trophy finds it hopeless that Goo won't fall into the water except when Goo jumps he doesn't make it any distance, correcting him. Microphone talks to Taco about using their old strategy and Taco runs towards the rope, but before Mic could stop her, she lands in the water and comes out soaked. Cheesy also struggles with holding onto the rope, due to his hands being tired from "excessive knee-slapping", so Candle tells him to make an affirmation, causing him to make a pun and slap himself across the water.
Rock Climbing[]
Tapey asks MeTag if they can see without the blindfold, but before they could "answer", she realizes that it's could possibly be an "advantage". Taco helps the Cherries win by telling them to "move their leg up the entire wall", which somehow works, much to Taco's disbelief. Cheesy ask Magnet is he can take her picture, but hesitantly declines, saying that Pepper would never stop during the challenge to "indulge her". Goo, while holding the rope with his mouth, gives muffled messages with Bonesaw, which makes him think that he's afraid of him.
Go-Kart Racing[]
During the last part, Tea Kettle is requested by the Cherries to drive their go-kart, which concerns her a bit. Magnet carries Jack towards the kart, and tells him to take it "nice and slow", since they got plenty of time to win the challenge. But Jack rudely disagrees, claiming that they need to be first, and slams his foot on the gas. Magnet puts her foot on the brake and says that only Pepper can "talk to her like that". Bonesaw tells Spikey to "be the wheel", which gives him the spirit to drive, and speed past the hosts, (and Suitcase) MeTag tries to use his gestures on Poppy's hand to direct them, but they didn't understand what they're saying, and accidentally crash their kart into the padded fence. Jack and Magnet repeatedly stop and start the car all while finally crossing the finish line. After the challenge, Fan asks Suitcase if they proved their point on safety, to which she agrees.
Elimination Time[]
Later that night, Team Heavy Metal Pop Stars are put up for elimination, and Bot asks if they can take do the scoreboard by themselves, due to their damaged face and the incident that took place last episode. Since no one spun the wheel, Fan instantly reads the votes, and awkwardly chats with Poppy about the voting system. In the end, MeTag is eliminated at 3 votes, which shocks Poppy a bit, which makes them believes that the contestants still don't trust them. They also said that they can't "see them for who they really are", but when they asks MeTag about it, they immediately grab Poppy’s hand and they both go into the forest, with Fan running after them and Starfruit thinking that the "paparazzi" had found him, telling his team to flee away.

Production Notes[]
Continuity References[]
- As acknowledged by Microphone, the team-choosing method for this season is similar to that of the second season, specifically in the episode "Breaking the Ice".
- Box referring to herself and Bonesaw as "the original final two" is a callback to their conversation in the previous episode.
- Cheesy's facial expression after Pepper comes up with their team's name is also the same one Fan made in that episode.
- The dictionaries the teams use during naming have the same colors as the character, Dictionary, but in reverse order.
- The Maze makes a minor reappearance as part of the five-part contest.
- Its first appearance was in "Mazed & Confused".
- Both mazes seem to have different paths.
- Its first appearance was in "Mazed & Confused".
- Microphone attempts to use her strategy of going through the maze from "Mazed and Confused" with Soap.
- Lightbulb receives 2 contestant votes in this episode, marking the first time she has ever received a contestant vote in the competition.
- This makes Suitcase the only Inanimate Insanity II merge contestant to never receive a contestant vote.
Cultural References[]
- The episode's title is a reference to the idiom "run the risk".
- This episode may have been inspired by the eleventh episode of Total Drama Island, “Who Can You Trust?”. The episode featured similar challenges such as rock climbing, doing a trapeze catch blindfolded, and sledding blindfolded.
- After Pepper comes up with the name "Circumspect" for her team, Cheesy's facial expression resembles the one Golf Ball made in the Battle For Dream Island Again episode "Catch These Hands".
- Fan tells the Thematic Cats that their team name has "big musical theater vibes", which is a possible reference to the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical, Cats.
- A clip from Uneven Evan, a short film created by Adam Katz in 2019, is shown on the TV in Test Tube's lab.
Trivia[]
- This is the second episode to start directly after the previous one.
- Similar to "Cob Mentality" when it left of after Poppy introduced themself to everyone.
- This episode also starts with the sneak peak from a storyboard video.
- Similar to "Cob Mentality" when it left of after Poppy introduced themself to everyone.
- This is the second time a human character has appeared in I.I. history. The first being Santa Claus in "The Snowdown".
- Excluding A.D.A,M., B.R.I.A.N., & J.U.S.T.I.N., since they were revealed to be built by Steve Cobs in "Mine Your Own Business" & "Through No Choice of Your Own"
Goofs[]
- When Spikey and Bonesaw finish the kart leg of the race, Spikey’s safety coverings are gone. Though, they reappear on him at 19:59.
- When the team-naming challenge begins, all of the teams are seen using dictionaries to get ideas, but in the scene where Test Tube creates the spheres of silence, the books are no where to be seen.
- Before the team-naming challenge began, Test Tube wrote Team Blue's letters as PMCCC, but during the challenge it was written a PCMCC.
