The Smart Alliance was an alliance formed in Inanimate Insanity Invitational, being formed by Cabby and Test Tube in "Best Served Cold." This was the first alliance that was formed in III. Smart Alliance also happens to be the shortest lived alliance in Inanimate Insanity, being disbanded in the same episode it was formed in, after Test Tube decided to betray Cabby.

Leading Up to the Smart Alliance[]
After Boaty's funeral in “The Shame of the Name,” Fan goes up to Test Tube and tells her that while ‘taking the cab’ in the previous episode, he found a file Cabby made about himself. Test Tube looks through the file in complete shock, caused by how much information and detail is in it. This, understandably, makes the two feel uneasy. During the challenge, Fan and Test Tube pull Cabby aside to ask her about the file. Cabby, angry at the two, tells them that all they needed to do is ask to see it, and that they need to trust that she’s documenting this information for a good reason. She proceeds to tell them both about how they’re both very niche examples of intelligence, like how Test Tube only works within the areas of science, and how despite the fact Fan is truly a big fan of Inanimate Insanity, he makes mistakes in his own work. After the newly-named Pinkers are put up for elimination, Cabby convinces Bot, Goo and Clover to vote Fan out, and successfully eliminate him. Though Fan and Cabby seem to leave on good terms, the same cannot be said with Test Tube. This is the start of the two two’s distaste for each other.
Formation of the Smart Alliance[]
After the teams were rearranged in "Best Served Cold," Cabby wants to make things right with Test Tube, considering the two's not-so-good history. Cabby rolls up to Test Tube and apologizes for discrediting her intelligence in the past, and asks to form an alliance with her - Smart Alliance. After a quick thought, Test Tube agrees, and states that she believes that the two can make the alliance work. Soon after, Cabby hands her Silver Spoon's file to Test Tube, establishing the fact that cabby's files now also belong to Test Tube. After their interaction with Silver, Cabby tells Test Tube that it's all about playing with the information, and that she'll learn that eventually. Later on, after Cabby finds out about Balloon's flower/flour mix-up, she starts complaining to Test Tube about him, but eventually states how the two shouldn't waste their votes on him, due to his immunity streak. It cuts to Test Tube in the Calm-Down Cabana, telling the audience about how she wishes that there as least one thing that both her and Cabby could agree on.
"Can I trust you to do that?"
After The New Pinkers lost the challenge, Cabby tells Test Tube that they should vote out Silver Spoon, despite Paintbrush messing up the challenge for their team pretty badly. Before Cabby leaves to press the Elimination Button, she gives Test Tube full permission to hold onto her files, and tells her to use them to convince the others to vote Silver out with them. Before the scene cuts off, Test Tube looks hesidentally at Cabby's contestant files. At the elimination ceremony, MePhone reads the votes as usual. Cabby's proud and confident expression slowly turns into horror and panic as vote after vote is for her, realizing that Test Tube betrayed her. It is revealed that before the elimination, Test Tube took her files and showed each New Pinker Cabby's file on them, exposing Cabby and turning the whole team against her. In a 5-1 vote, Cabby is eliminated. Cabby, distraught and angry, asks Test Tube why she would do such a thing, and Test Tube tells her that she did it because of how she would write down everybody's flaws, just to use it against them later down the line. Cabby tries to defend herself, but Test Tube is not having it. Cabby is eventually punched by the Fist Thingy, being sent to Indefinite Island with the other eliminated contestants.
After Best Served Cold[]
In You Can't Do This Forever, Test Tube ends up voting for Cabby to win Invitational, which she does. During the winner party, Test Tube congratulates Cabby on her win, and Cabby thanks her for her vote. Test Tube goes on to tell her that nobody cared more out there than Cabby, and how she was punished for that. She apologizes to Cabby for what she did. After a couple seconds, Cabby reaches out to Tube Tube and says "Smart alliance?," and they both shake hands.
