"Tragedy at 60 Feet" is the 5th episode of Inanimate Insanity Invitational and the 37th episode overall. It was released on November 6, 2021.
Synopsis[]
The Tragedy is an… unspeakable disaster. We wouldn’t dare divulge any information about such a catastrophe. Anyways, here’s an episode where someone takes a bit of a tumble. Have fun!
Plot[]
Pre-Intro[]
The episode starts off with Nickel showing off pictures he had taken during a previous challenge with Balloon, pointing out the one with him being crushed by a safe. Balloon tells him that Clover is in fact lucky, before asking Nickel if he planned it to crush her. Nickel tells him that that's irrelevant before stating that her luck will be the demise of everyone. Balloon reminds Nickel that they have Box literally voting for them, and that there are only 4 Sinkers left. Tea Kettle calls them over and tells them she prepared food for them, showing off a lot of food on top of the Pic-Nix Table. She tries to convince them that Box is a chronic liar, and asks them if she had ever prepared them a meal like this. Balloon asks Tea Kettle if that was just the Pic-Nix table with a blanket over it, with Tea Kettle nervously saying no. Balloons sees through Tea Kettle and she remarks that she's been "framed" before Box shows up. Tea Kettle asks Box if they would like to eat together, but gets from Box that she likes to eat herself, so she sets Box on top of the table.
Post-Intro[]
MePhone4 gathers the contestants for tragic news, and shows off a safety report that OJ filed before he left, telling them that his show was deemed "unsafe". Silver Spoon tells MePhone that the only "unsafe" thing he is doing is using "air quotes" incorrectly. MePhone states he doesn't want to get sued again, and announces the next challenge:
Challenge[]
MePhone tells the contestants the challenge is the "epitome of safety". Each team is given an egg they have to build a contraption to keep it safe. Afterwards, the team has to drop their contraption off the 60 foot cliff. If any of their eggs break open the team is automatically up for elimination. The Floor asks MePhone if he's gonna watch over them, before MePhone tells The Floor that they are "always being watched" with a big smile. MePhone then walks off with a frown.
Over at The Pinkers, Test Tube starts telling them about structural engineering before Cabby buts in. Cabby tells her that they should "let fate intervene" looking over at Clover. Cabby pushes Clover off the cliff shocking everyone, before she magically gets saved by the wind pulling her back to safety. Cabby concludes that Clover is, in fact, "Lucky", which shocks Bot. In the Calm-Down Cabana, Clover says that she believes a positive outlook can mold anything into existence. Test Tube tells Cabby she isn't relying on luck to win, looking annoyed.
Over at The Thinkers, Paintbrush and Candle repeatedly talk over each other by accident, apologizing in the process. Silver, in his Confessional, explains that the team is in complete gridlock due to everyone being too afraid to be the leader. The Floor says each member should just focus on one side of the contraption at a time.
Over at The Sinkers, Balloon tries to give a motivational speech to his teammates before they get distracted by Box. Balloon gets very annoyed by this. Nickel gets annoyed at Tea Kettle for relying on Box so much, but Balloon tells him she just wants to stay in the game. He tells him Box is the only reason they are even tolerating each other. Nickel goes and asks Box and Tea Kettle if they need a hand. The episode goes to The Pinkers, who assembled a contraption made out of plastic straws. Test Tube asks Cabby a question but she but tells her she doesn't seem to be interested in her database, which angers Test Tube. Test Tube calls Cabby a snollygoster, which shocks Cabby.
Goo, in his Confessional, starts panicking about all of the arguing going on between his team. Paintbrush holds up their contraption, which is a small wooden box to hold the egg inside. Yin-Yang says it looks like garbage. Silver picks up the egg and its falls right through the box shattering into pieces. The Floor remembers that they only built five sides. Paintbrush nearly bursts into flames but holds it together, and asks the other Thinkers for ideas. Silver gets mad at the others and tells them they don't need a leader to make a plan. The Floor tells Silver that once their egg is cracked they are done, but Silver tells him that MePhone isn't even here. Silver tells Yin-Yang that his egg shaped body would be their solution now, and tells Paintbrush to start digging.
Nickel goes over to Tea Kettle and Box and compliments Box for her "handiwork skills" which Tea Kettle had done herself. She tries to tell Nickel that she did it herself before he smirks at her, so she takes her statement back. Test Tube and Cabby continue arguing. Clover tries to convince them to stop. Nickel tells Tea Kettle she cant manipulate his #1 ally, which shocks Balloon. Nickel and Tea Kettle both grab onto Box and start tugging on her. Test Tube tells Cabby she doesn't want to argue anymore. Cabby, however, tells Test Tube that maybe it is due to her "bad history of protecting eggs", which infuriates Test Tube. Goo starts melting onto the ground out of stress. Test Tube slips on Goo and loses grip of her hammer, which starts flying all over the place. Both Tea Kettle and Nickel lose grip of Box. The hammer, going straight for Clover, hits Box instead, sending her hurdling down the cliff below.
MePhone shows up and starts panicking and tries to call for medical. Test Tube and Cabby both look nervously at each other. Yin-Yang, half submerged into the ground, asks whats happening but Silver tells him to stay down.
Medical Evacuation[]
MePhone points out that Box isn't breathing anymore and asks if anyone knows CPR. On Indefinite Island, Lifering says he feels "extremely needed". MePhone says they need the onsite doctor before Tea Kettle asks MePhone if they have had an onsite doctor the entire time. MePhone sarcastically says yes.
Dr. Fizz shows up on the island and tells the contestants to step back. Yin-Yang, however, starts praying to Dr. Fizz, praising his bubbliness. After an intense medical evaluation, MePhone asks him for an update. Dr. Fizz tells him that Box is unable to get proper oxygen, and that she would have to be pulled from the game, making her the 5th eliminated contestant. Test Tube says that Box spared her own life to save Clover, which makes Clover very nervous. Nickel gets furious at Clover, before slipping on a banana peel. In a Confessional, Clover thinks about whether her luck is a curse or not.
Nickel goes over to his remaining team members and apologizes for everything, Tea Kettle grabs them both for a big group hug. Tea Kettle then looks at the table to see all the food is gone, convinced that Box had eaten all of her food. However, The Floor had taken the food to a different location, eating up all of it. MePhone goes up to The Floor and calls him a flat slob before the episode ends.

Production Notes[]
Continuity References[]
- Nickel reviews the photos he took from "Snapshot Showdown", noting that the safe that fell on him made him 1 millimeter thinner.
- Shortly afterwards, Tea Kettle notes that Nickel looks thin.
- MePhone4 holds up a Safety Report that is filed by OJ. In OJ's Exit Interview, OJ says he reported a safety concern before he left.
- Cabby notes she's been cataloguing Clover's strange abilities from Day 1, a callback to the moment in "Stranded in Paradise" where Cabby begins her file on Clover after she exhibits her luck ability.
- Clover flips Test Tube's mouth upside down, a possible reference to early Season 1 where contestants' mouths would flip upside down if they were unhappy.
- This was previously referenced in "Alternate Reality Show" by Lightbulb who also flips her mouth upside down.
- Cabby makes reference to the events of "Hatching the Plan" when noting that Test Tube has a "bad history of protecting eggs."
- Test Tube mentions on how she did not want to "rely on otherworldly forces again" for the challenge, possibly referencing Fan's theory about the order of team eliminations in the first half of Inanimate Insanity II.
- Lifering is shown on Indefinite Island stating he feels "extremely needed" after MePhone4 asks if anyone knows CPR, which Lifering stated he knew in "Stranded in Paradise".
- The character Dr. Fizz shares the same name as Dr. Fizz mentioned several times previously, first mentioned in "Tri Your Best" by Yang.
- Furthermore, Yang appears to idolize Dr. Fizz.
Cultural References[]
- In OJ's Safety Report, he appears to be holding up a middle finger with a quote "This is the right finger", a reference to Leafy's line "wrong finger" in Battle For Dream Island after Pin holds up the middle finger.
- Box's unique elimination method is based on medical evacuations from Survivor which is one of the many Survivor elements added to this season's unique theme while being based off of said reality show.
- Dr. Fizz may be in reference to Joe Rowles, the on site doctor from Survivor who would come to the aid of contestants after they were injured and in some cases medically evacuate them.
- The way Yang kneels to Dr. Fizz and says not worthy is a resemblance of saying "We're Not Worthy" in the 1992 movie Wayne's World.
Trivia[]
- This is the first episode of Inanimate Insanity Invitational to not have an elimination, and the second episode to not have one overall.
- This is also the first episode where a contestant is medically evacuated; being Box after taking severe injuries from rescuing Clover.
- This is the third time a contestant doesn't get eliminated in normal matters.
- Marshmallow was the first contestant to be eliminated due to her in "Alternate Reality Show" due to her absence.
- Microphone was the second contestant to be eliminated due to voluntarily quitting in "Hatching the Plan".
- This is the shortest episode of Inanimate Insanity Invitational so far.
- This is the second episode where Box gets injured, only getting hit by hammer. The first time Box got injured was back in the Season 2 episode "Cooking for the Grater Good", where Trophy stomped on Box right after he got eliminated from that episode.
- When MePhone4 picks up the safety report paper, OJ shows a finger, also saying "This is the right finger."
- This could be a reference to BFDI episode 1a, when Pin shows a finger, continuing with Leafy telling her that it's the wrong finger.
